Founded in 2021, the Feather River Community Fund’s goal is to help sustain and improve the capacity of rural communities of the northern Sierra-Cascades region. To this end, the Fund is requesting proposals from individuals, organizations, and businesses (including start-ups) for their 2024 Grant Program. Applicant’s projects should align with the Fund’s mission, which is to improve the community capacity, vitality, economy, or the natural environment in Plumas County. As in 2023, proposals with the intent of addressing post-fire needs are encouraged.
In 2023, grants were awarded to Plumas Audubon in support of the Plumas Environmental Education Program; to Feather River Chapter Trout Unlimited to support their Trout in the Classroom program; to KQNY Public Radio to fund public affairs broadcasting; to The Indian Valley Innovation Hub to assist in their efforts to stablish a Plumas County online Business Resource Center and expand their ‘Made In Plumas County Program’; to Greenville Little League to replace equipment lost to the Dixie Fire, to Indian Valley Butchers to assist them in expanding their business, and to The Plumas Sun, to assist in funding start-up costs. Past grant program recipients have included The Lost Sierra Food Project and “The Spot” in Greenville.
The Fund hopes to provide five or six grants of five to ten thousand dollars. Interested parties should complete the application available on the Fund’s website (https://featherrivercommunityfund.org). Applications can also be obtained by contacting Feather River Community Fund’s secretary Marsha Roby at 530-394-7095, to whom questions may also be directed.
Submittals are due November 11th, with awards to be made in mid-November.
